New Delhi: To clear the waiting list, the Indian Railways have started clone train services from Monday on high demand routes, official sources said.
The clone trains, also termed as a duplicate of the trains which may have exceeded booking list, are primarily 3-AC trains with fewer halts, higher speeds and departure time before the parent train. They come as a boon for the passengers who have to travel in an emergency or have made last-minute plans.
Their stoppages will be limited to operational halts or the Divisional Headquarters en route, if any, thereby reducing their journey time, they said.
Deepak Kumar, PRO, Northern Railways, told ETV Bharat here that the clone trains, which are being run to allow reverse migration of workers to urban areas for work, would be run wherever it is required.
He said most of the total of 230 trains being run at the moment have a good occupancy rate of 70 to 80 per cent and arrangements would be made according to the need.
