India records 81.55 percent COVID-19 recovery rate

India on Thursday registered a total recovery rate of 81.55 per cent from COVID-19. The number of recoveries have exceeded new cases in the last six days which now stand at 46,74,987 against the total active case number of 9,66,382.

New Delhi: With the recovery of 87,374 patients in the last 24 hours, India on Thursday registered a total recovery rate of 81.55 per cent from COVID-19.

Statistics from health ministry shows that 86,508 new confirmed cases have also been reported from across the country.

The number of recoveries have exceeded new cases in the last six days. The total number of recovery now stands at 46,74,987 against the total active case number of 9,66,382.

The active caseload accounts for merely 16.86 per cent of the total positive cases.

Interestingly, new recoveries in 13 states have exceeded new cases. States like Chhattisgarh, J&K, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Chandigarh, Mizoram, Tripura and Tamil Nadu have exceeded in the number of new recoveries.

Nearly, 74 per cent of the new recovered cases are found in 10 states and UTs including Maharastra, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Chattisgarh, Delhi, Odisha, West Bengal and Kerala.

Officials said that the sustained results have been made possible with the centre led proactive and calibrated strategy focusing "chase the virus" approach.

"Early identification through high and aggressive testing, prompt surveillance and tracking combined with high-quality medical care through the standard of care protocol issued by the centre has aided the high number of recoveries," officials said.

Officials said that sustained focus of the Union and states, UT administration on improved and effective clinical treatment in hospitals, supervised home isolation, use of non-invasive oxygen support, use of steroids, anticoagulants, and improved services of the ambulance for ferrying patients for prompt and timely treatment has helped the government in controlling the situation.
