New Delhi: Union Minister Giriraj Singh reiterated his demand for a Population Control Act in India, saying if the country wants to stand with the developed nations, it would have to control the population.
"The rising population has become a challenge for us. If we want to stand with developed nations then we'll have to bring Population Control Act - a strict Act which will be applicable to everyone in this country regardless of any religion they follow,” said the minister on the World Population Day 2020.
He said in case India does not control its population, there would be all sorts of problems and life would become difficult for the citizens in the country as resources are limited.
On the occasion, the minister also urged people not to link his demand for Population Control Act to any religion or politicize it, and if any link has to be established, it should be between the act and development of the country.
