IMD issues 'heavy rain' alerts for Uttarakhand, Bihar

Warnings of heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar on Friday issued by the Indian Meteorological Department. Himachal Pradesh and some north-eastern states likely to receive rains too. Fishermen advised not to venture into these areas.

New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday said the states: Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are likely to witness heavy rainfall on Friday.

Besides, heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places are likely over Himachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya.

Rough to very rough sea conditions (with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph) is likely to prevail over southwest and adjoining central and the north Arabian Sea.

The organisation has advised fishermen not to venture into these areas for the next few days.
