'Hunar Haat' strengthening resolve of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat': Naqvi

The Minority Affairs Ministry's ''Hunar Haat'' platform for products made by traditional artisans and craftsmen is becoming an effective platform to strengthen the resolve of ''Atmanirbhar Bharat'' and "vocal for local", Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said on Wednesday.

New Delhi: Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Wednesday inaugurated the 'Hunar Haat' here at Delhi Haat, Pitampura and said that magnificent indigenous products of master artisans are "Local Pride" and "Global Praise" of 'Hunar Haat'.

During the inauguration of 'Hunar Haat', Naqvi said that it is becoming an effective platform to strengthen the mission of "Aatm Nirbhar Bharat" and "Vocal for Local" by promoting and encouraging indigenous products of master artisans and craftsmen.

Naqvi said that lakhs of master artisans and craftsmen from across the country are happy and excited that 'Hunar Haat' has been organised again after a gap of about seven months due to the corona pandemic.

He said that indigenous exquisite products made from 'Maati (clay), metal and machiya' (wooden and jute products) are the major attraction at 'Hunar Haat' in Pitampura. Rare exquisite products made from clay, different metals and wooden products, products made from cane- bamboo, mesmerising pottery work etc are available for display and sale at this 'Hunar Haat'.

Minority Affairs Minister also inaugurated the 'Hunar Haat' website http:/hunarhaat.org and said this time people will be able to buy 'Hunar Haat' products digitally.

The Ministry is registering these artisans and their indigenous products on "GeM" (Government e-Marketplace).

Naqvi said that every corner of the country has a traditional and ancestral legacy of indigenous products. This legacy, which was on the verge of extinction, has got a boost after Prime Minister Narendra Modi pitched for "Swadeshi".

Naqvi said that social distancing and other guidelines regarding corona pandemic are being strictly followed at 'Hunar Haat' and in the coming days it will be organised at Jaipur, Chandigarh, Indore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, India Gate, New Delhi, Ranchi, Kota and Surat/Ahmedabad.
