'High Class 12 scores may force test for college admission'

The admission process for some courses may be stopped after the first cut-off list itself as a large number of students end up scoring 100 per cent marks and it fills up the total number of seats in just one go. This may lead to an entrance test for college admissions in near future.

"About five thousand students have secured 100 per cent marks in their class 12 examination and over 20 thousand students have got above 90 per cent. This does not allow us to come up with second ort third cut-offs," he said, adding that if it goes on, the colleges would have to organize entrance examinations for admissions.

Talking about the issues that the college may be facing because of the online admission process, the Ramanujan College principal said there are no major ones but we do have some and these would be handled in due course of time.

Meanwhile, since the admission process is being held completely online, Delhi University has advised students not to visit colleges in person. Principals of various colleges were reported as saying that the first day of the process was a learning curve for them and there were no technical glitches.

The university had announced its first cut-off list on Saturday with Lady Shri Ram College pegging the cut-offs for three honours courses at 100 per cent.
