Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh shifted to AIIMS due to ill health, discharged

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is serving a prison sentence in Haryana's Rohtak jail in connection with the sexual abuse of a sadhvi, was transferred to AIIMS Delhi due to ill health. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was taken to AIIMS hospital in Delhi around 7 pm and was discharged after a medical investigation.

New Delhi: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is serving a prison sentence in Haryana's Rohtak jail in connection with the sexual abuse of an inmate of his religious order, was transferred to AIIMS Delhi due to ill health. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was taken to AIIMS hospital around 7 pm and was discharged after a medical investigation.

The AIIMS hospital administration confirmed that Ram Rahim had chest pain and was brought to the hospital. At present, Ram Rahim's health is fine and the doctors of AIIMS have not admitted him. He has been discharged from the hospital after a thorough chest examination.

The Dera chief is serving a 20-year-old prison sentence by a special CBI Court in August 2017 in connection to the rape of two female disciples in her Ashram. While in January 2019, a court sentenced him to life imprisonment along with three others for the murder of a Sirsa based journalist 16 years ago. The long list of controversies associated with Baba Ram Rahim includes dressing up as the 10th Sikh Guru- Guru Gobind Singh, wrongful confinement of his followers, kidnapping, murder of DSS member Ranjit Singh, forceful castration of 400 followers, etc.

Earlier in May, Ram Rahim Singh was admitted to a government hospital in Rohtak. He had complained of abnormal blood pressure fluctuations and dizziness back then. He was discharged after an overnight stay at the hospital. In June, Ram Rahim tested positive for Covid-19 and was admitted to a private hospital in Gurugram. In between, the controversial godman was also admitted to Medanta hospital because of abdominal pain.
