'Ghar Wapasi' says Alka Lamba as she rejoins Congress

Rebel Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Alka Lamba on Friday rejoined the Congress party after meeting party president Sonia Gandhi. Earlier in the day, the Delhi MLA had announced on Twitter that she had quit the AAP's primary membership.

New Delhi: Delhi's Chandni Chowk MLA Alka Lamba resigned from the primary membership of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday and rejoined the Congress party.

On Friday evening, Lamba came to Congress President Sonia Gandhi's official residence at 10 Janpath and took membership of the party and informed the media about this.

"Congress is my old home and it's my 'Ghar Wapasi'. I had to tell many things to AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal but he never had time for me. So, I thought this is the best time to move on," she said after joining the grand old party.

"The time has come to say "Good Bye" to AAP and to resign from the primary membership of the Party. The past 6 years journey was great learning for me. Thanks to all," she tweeted.

Lamba has been at odds with the Aam Aadmi Party for some time. After the party's defeat in Lok Sabha polls, she had sought accountability from AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal following which she was removed from the official WhatsApp group of the party lawmakers.
