New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's visit to Delhi has raised the political speculations of a strong coalition to challenge BJP in the 2024 general elections. On Wednesday, Mamata Banerjee held a meeting with all the Trinamool Congress MPs in Delhi and also met Congress chief Sonia Gandhi. Before meeting Sonia Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee interacted with the media for about one and a half hours and answered all the questions. On meeting Sonia Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee said that she has been in touch with her since the time of Rajiv Gandhi and their relations have been good.

The biggest question in front of Mamata Banerjee was how she would unite the opposition before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In 2019, such an initiative was taken by Trinamool Congress, but the result wasn't fruitful after several rounds of meetings. In such a situation, what strategy will she design in 2024 so that the opposition comes under one roof?

Mamata Banerjee says that the situation is likely to change in 2024 as compared to 2019. Today, the common people of the country are also dissatisfied with this government. One by one, many activities of the Modi government are coming out. Whether it is Pegasus or inflation, Corona vaccine or farmers. The displeasure with the government is increasing and the people want to defeat the Modi government. In such a situation, a united opposition will be stronger and better.

Does Mamata Banerjee see herself as the face of a united opposition? On this question, she says that the first goal of all opposition political parties should be to defeat Modi. The face can also be fixed later.

Mamata Banerjee reminded the country's deteriorating economy and price rise as a big issue. Taking a jibe at the Modi government, she said that today GDP means gas, diesel and petrol for this government. The government has collected Rs 3.7 lakh crore from the people of the country by increasing the fuel prices, but today that money is not being spent on buying vaccines for the public.

Mamata Banerjee is intensifying the effort to unite the opposition, but there are no fewer challenges for her in this path. Naveen Patnaik of BJD, Jagan Mohan Reddy of YSR Congress Party and some other regional parties are seen supporting the government in the house on many issues, even though they are not joining the Modi government. Even if they do not support the government, these parties do not oppose the Modi government vehemently. Combining these parties in a united opposition can be a big challenge. Mamata Banerjee said that she will meet everyone and discuss. Be it Naveen Patnaik, Jagan Reddy, Chandrababu Naidu or MK Stalin from Tamil Nadu, they all have good relations with her.

Today is the third day of Mamata Banerjee in Delhi and she is holding meetings continuously. She has said that after the conclusion of the Parliament session, she will come to Delhi again. It is being said that only then can she talk about the strategy to unite the opposition.

The issue of soaring inflation was exploited by the BJP when it was in opposition and they got the benefit out of it. Even today the country is facing the brunt of the economy and inflation, but no strong protest or demonstration from the opposition is visible on the streets. Mamata Banerjee says that the opposition parties are not able to organise any big program because of the situation of the Covid-19 epidemic, but as soon as the situation improves, they will also take to the streets strongly and will oppose the policies of the government.
