Delhi violence is reflection of total failure of central govt: Manmohan Singh

Speaking to media, Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said: "We called upon President to suggest to him that what has happened in last 4 days in Delhi is a matter of great concern and a matter of national shame in which at least 34 people have died and 200 people are injured. It is a reflection on total failure of Central Govt."

Cong delegation led by Sonia Gandhi meets Kovind over Delhi violence

A delegation of senior Congress leaders, led by party chief Sonia Gandhi, met President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday to seek normalcy and peace in violence-hit Delhi.
 

The delegation, including Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad as well as Ahmed Patel and Randeep Surjewala, also submitted a memorandum to the president. 
 

The total death toll in the northeast Delhi communal violence over the amended citizenship law is now 34, according to senior officials.

Delhi violence: Congress delegation to meet President Kovind today

New Delhi: A delegation of Congress leaders will meet President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday here over the communal violence in North-East district of the national capital.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi will be leading the delegation, which will also march to the President’s House from the Vijay Chowk.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, P Chidamabaram, Ahmed Patel, KC Venugopal, Anand Sharma and other top leaders will also be a part of the delegation.

Earlier today, the Congress called a meeting of its Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs in the wake of Delhi violence that has left at least 25 people dead and around 190 injured in the past three days.

Delhi Police have registered 18 FIRs and 106 people have been arrested in connection with the violence in North-East Delhi so far.
