New Delhi: The police have filed 683 FIRs so far in the incidents related to the Delhi violence that rocked the city on February 24-25.
A total of 1,983 people have been arrested or taken into the custody so far in this regard, the police said.
The Delhi Police Headquarters provided this information to Media on Friday late night.
According to the information, 48 cases of the Arms Act have been filed so far. These apart, the Peace Committees, that always helped to maintain Law and Order, are holding meetings constantly. To the date, a total of 251 meetings have taken place.
Earlier, the video went viral in which the man, identified as 33-year-old Shahrukh, could be seen pointing his country-made pistol at the policeman on the Jaffrabad-Maujpur road on February 24.
The man fired eight rounds in the presence of police personnel.Delhi policeman Deepak Dahiya at whom suspect Shahrukh pointed a gun during violence in Maujpur area, said that he tried to scare him with his stick but he fired and fled away.
"I saw him running towards me, I tried to scare him by showing my stick. He got distracted and fired one round of bullet towards the opposite road and fled from there," Deepak Dahiya told media.
Later, Shahrukh has been arrested from Uttar Pradesh's Shamli.
At least 46 people, including a police Head Constable and Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer Ankit Sharma, have died while around 200 people sustained serious injuries in the violence that raged for three days in the North-East areas of Delhi.
Two Special Investigation Teams (SIT) were constituted under the Crime Branch, Delhi Police to investigate the violence. (With inputs from IANS)
