Delhi police to submit full report to Home Ministry over Delhi riots

A full-fledged report is being prepared by the Delhi police over the recent communal violence that took place in the national capital last month and will be submitted by next week to the Home Ministry.

New Delhi: While the issue of Delhi violence has been causing uproar in both houses of Parliament over the last one week, Delhi Police are preparing a full-fledged report on the issue, which will be submitted by next week to the Home Ministry, sources said.

Earlier in the day, special cell of Delhi police arrested Popular Front of India (PFI's) Delhi president Pervez Ahamed and secretary Mohammad Iliyas. They were believed to have funded the Delhi riots.

Interestingly, Iliyas had contested the 2020 Delhi Assembly election from Karawal Nagar area on a ticket from Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI).

A separate team of Delhi police special cell also arrested one Salman alias Nanhe for his alleged involvement in the killing of Intelligence Bureau officer Ankit Sharma during the Delhi violence.

On Wednesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah told in the Parliament that vital evidences have been gatheed by Delhi police and breakthroughs will take place in the coming days regarding violence. He said that the perpetrators behind the violence will be arrested soon.
