Six African nationals arrested for illegal stay in Delhi

During the operation, 30 foreign nationals were questioned, out of which six were found to be living in India illegally, as they did not have any valid documents.

New Delhi: Police teams under the Dabri police station have arrested half a dozen foreign nationals as part of a campaign against foreign nationals living in the country despite their visas having expired.

Action is being taken against them by registering an FIR under the Foreigners Act. Further action has been taken against five under the Preventive Act. All detainees are said to be African nationals.

DCP Dwarka, Santosh Meena, said that three teams took part in the special drive under the supervision of SHO SS Sandhu. During the operation, 30 foreign nationals were questioned, out of which six were found to be living in India illegally, as they did not have any valid documents. Out of these six, three are residents of Dabri. The police have also initiated action against their landlord.

DCP Meena said that such campaigns are done continuously from time to time. In an earlier instance in Mohan Garden and Uttam Nagar, action was taken against a large number of foreign nationals who were living in the country illegally, under a similar campaign.
