New Delhi: The Delhi government is fully prepared for the COVID-19 vaccination drive in the city scheduled to start on Saturday and has given approval for the purchase of 1.34 crore doses of vaccines.
Terming the vaccine the only solution to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic, the Kejriwal-led government has decided to provide free vaccines to every person aged above 18 years.
The Delhi Chief Minister further urged people to get vaccinated as soon as they are eligible, stating that vaccinated people are less likely to get the infection and the people who do get it have mild symptoms.

As per the central government, manufacturers of Covid-19 vaccines will be free to supply 50 percent doses to state governments and in the open market, for which they will have to make an advance declaration of the price before May 1.
Meanwhile, ETV Bharat spoke to the Medical Director of the city's Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital, Dr. Suresh Kumar regarding the plans for the administration of vaccine doses to the people.
"LNJP Hospital is Delhi's largest Covid hospital, currently operates six vaccination centers and there is sufficient facility of vaccination here. Vaccination of health care workers and frontline workers has already taken place. According to the time slot, people will come and they will be vaccinated. In this, both the public sector and the private sector will play a big role," he said.
Advising the public he said, "The vaccine is completely safe, do not get into any kind of misconception and get the vaccine done. After getting the vaccine, you will not be affected by Covid-19 and you will also be able to save your family."
"A few days ago there was a very bad situation regarding the supply of medical oxygen, but now enough oxygen is being received by the hospitals in the city. Now we have stock of medical oxygen for 8 to 12 hours every day. One oxygen tanker comes every day to our hospital but the hospital is not receiving an adequate amount of Remdesivir. We have demanded its supply and It is expected that in a day or two, supply of Remdsivir will be available," he added.
