Farmers hold 'mock' discussions, debate mandis importance

The second day of the Farmers' Parliament in Delhi's Jantar Mantar continued n a disciplined manner. On Friday, the farmers appointed two people among themselves as the government's representative and the agriculture minister to discuss new farm laws.

New Delhi: The second day of the Farmers' Parliament in Delhi's Jantar Mantar continued in a peaceful and disciplined manner. On Friday, the farmers appoint two people among themselves as the government's representative and the agriculture minister. The proceeding started and the farmers expressed their opinion on the three agricultural laws and asked their questions to the appointed government representatives, who failed to answer their questions. This mock or symbolic activity highlights the farmers' seriousness on the several farmers' issues.

While discussing the market system, the farmers said that the government wants to set up parallel mandis through the Agriculture Act. There is a conspiracy to end the traditional market system by setting up parallel mandis. The government, of course, says that the mandis will not end, but the truth is that the mandis will automatically be closed due to the provision of the new law.

Abhimanyu Kohad, the youngest face of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha and the spokesperson for Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Mahasangh, had a chat with ETV Bharat today. The young farmer leader said the farmers asked several relevant questions today and proved that the farmers' protest against three agriculture laws is important. The young farmer leader added that the way the farmers' movement was criticized, citing misleading of farmers and misinterpretation of the laws, has been proved wrong today.

There is a lot of displeasure in the Kisan Morcha after the Minister of State for Culture and External Affairs, Meenakshi Lekhi termed the farmers sitting at Jantar Mantar as 'Mawali'. The farmer leaders have expressed strong objections to it. Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohar said that the statements being made by the BJP leaders show that the power is now in the hands of illiterate and corrupt people. The country will teach them a lesson.
