New Delhi: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Monday arrested a person at the Indira Gandhi International Airport and seized the US Dollars 12,900 from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Haseen and the value of the seized foreign currency is Rs 9.5 lakh in Indian currency.
On screening of the accused's handbag, a high volume of currency notes was noted. The message was passed to CISF personnel deployed in Security Hold Area (SHA) for the intensive screening of handbag, the CISF officials said.
During Pre-Embarkation Security Check-in SHA of terminal-3, CISF personnel detected 12,900 US Dollars worth approximately INR 9.5 lakh, concealed in the lower cavity of his handbag, the officials said.
Haseen was arrested after the CISF team asked them about the foreign currency to which he couldn't give satisfactory answers.
Later, the CISF handed over the accused to the Customs Department team after a preliminary inquiry, officials added.
