New Delhi: Shelter home for the people of Himachal Pradesh stranded at Delhi has been made operational.
Responding to the calls on helpline from six distressed migrant workers stranded in Delhi on the helpline numbers last evening, shelter has been provided to them said Deputy Resident Commissioner Vivek Mahajan. These migrant workers belong to Kullu and Lahaul and Spiti who were stranded here due to the lockdown, he added.
Mahajan said that free lodging and boarding facilities have been provided to them at Dharamshala in Karampura which is run by Himachal Social Bodies Federation under the active leadership of Sh K.R.Verma, Sh R.K.Sharma and team.
DRC said that calls from various needy persons from Himachal were also received and taking immediate action on them the RC office with the help of various Social Bodies and NGOs has distributed free ration, essential commodities, medicines etc.
While disclosing the details of those contributing to this humanitarian cause, Sh Mahajan said that S/s R N Sharma, Kulbhushan Sharma, Sanjay Rana, Anita Jaryal, Veena Bhaduriya, Mukesh, Riya, Mudit, Anuj Dogra, Satish, Somveer Thakur, Narendra Chauhan have distributed all the free ration to 38 needy Himachali families besides various above detailed items in areas of Rohini, Badarpur, Mehrauli, Chatarpur, Pandavnagar, Tughlakabad, Rithala, slums of Khaurha colony, Paper Market, Mayur Vihar Phase 3 and Mahipalpur. He also thanked Sh Dharam Singh Saklani & Sh Amin Chand Jaswal who being stranded at Himachal assisted these activities the through their representatives at Gurgaon and Noida.

Enlisting few other services by Himachalis, Sh Mahajan informed that residents of Himachali Kangra Niketan Society Vikaspuri were providing free cooked meals to 400 needy Himachali workers since last 3 days. S/s Pawan Sharma, Rajesh Choudhry and Sanjeev Dogra Residents of Dwarka also distributed free food to 500 person's along with officers of local administration.
He said that responding to the appeal of Chief Minister Sh Jairam Thakur, Social Bodies and NGOs are coming forward to help needy Himachalis and supplementing the efforts of state government and RC office at New Delhi. He thanked Sh Sidharth Sethi advocate for donating Rs 1 lakh towards CM Relief Fund.
All this assistance in the hour of crisis in the metropolitan city of Delhi was possible only due to the productive guidance and proactive approach of Chief Minister Sh Jai Ram Thakur, DRC said.
