Even after 71 yrs of independence, this village remains in dark

The village of Barpadar lacks many basic facilities. The villagers have been living without electricity for many years. Moreover, there is no proper road to connect the village to the nearby places. Many complaints have been made to the government officials but they have not taken any actions.

Dhamtari: It is said that the soul of India lives in its villages and more than 60 per cent of the population still lives in the rural India. Though the Central Government is claiming to connect the 'soul of the country' to the other parts of the country through many ambitious plans, but all in vain.

People at Barpadar village of Dhamtari district in Chhattisgarh are being forced to live their lives without the basic ailments.

The people here have been living their lives in the dark for many years as there is no electricity supply to the village. Some year ago, the village got lighten up after the electricity was supplied through solar energy. But it did not last long.

Moreover, there is no proper road to connect the village to the nearby places. The people here have to cross forests and rivers to reach the nearby town. People here have been waiting for bridge and road for many years.

Many complaints have been made to the government officials but they have not taken any actions regarding the problems in the Barpadar village.

The children of the village have to go to a nearby village as the school here has a lock on its gate for two years.

Not only this, there is no Anganwadi centre in the village.

Toilets were built in the village under PM Modi's ambitious Swachh Bharat mission but they are not fit for usage. As a result, villagers are helpless and forced to go for open defecation into farmlands.

The villagers have tried to raise their voice many times but it seems politicians have turned deaf towards the situation.
