Digging was underway for construction of a pond in Rajgaon village in Chhattisgarh. And surprise! the labourers stumbled upon a pot full of coins.

Raigadh: In a rare discovery, labourers of the construction work at Rajgaon village under Lelunga Panchayat in Chhattisgarh's Raigadh district found a pot containing silver and bronze coins while digging a pond on Monday.

According to sources, the pot full of bronze, silver and recent coins, buried five feet under, was discovered by MGNREGA construction labourers.

After getting information that the villagers in Rajgaon have found a pot full of coins, the Lelunga DM, Avishek Kumar Gupta asked the ASI to carry out physical verification of the site, sources said.

"A pot was found while digging a pond in which the coins found are mostly Rs 1, Rs 2, Rs 5 and Rs 10. Besides some copper, bronze and some silver coins were also found in it. A total of Rs 576 coins have been received from the pot," said, Avishek Gupta, DM, Lulunga.
