Meet the Chhattisgarh man whose life revolves around vintage bikes

Mehboob Khan, a resident of Korba and a bike mechanic by profession, has a collection of over a dozen vintage motorbikes, including Java motorcycle which was launched in 1965 and the Priya scooter which was the first model by Bajaj.

Korba( Chhattisgarh): For Mehboob Khan, a resident of Korba, life revolves around his vintage bikes. Having a collection of over a dozen vintage motorbikes, he takes them out for rides, services them and keeps them all in working condition.

Mehboob is very fond of bikes and cars and also possesses bikes of those companies that have shut down.

''My father was a top-class mechanic. He too was fond of bikes and he had predicted that the companies which are in the motorcycle market today will be shut down one day. All these bikes will be seen as heritage in future. This had greatly influenced me and from then onwards I started collecting bikes and will continue to do so," said Khan who is a bike mechanic by profession.

His vintage bike collection of various brands include Java motorcycle which was launched in 1965 and the Priya scooter which was the first model by Bajaj.

Khan further said, ''All these vehicles are not available anymore in the market. Java motorcycles were a craze in those days and people used to have a huge crush on these bikes especially when they had seen them in Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna's films.''

Mehboob is nurturing his hobby, he also says that now it is becoming very difficult to maintain these bikes. Their upkeep, servicing and meticulous maintenance are very expensive; also it costs about 50,000 rupees annually to pay taxes. However, despite this Mehboob does not want to give up his hobby, instead, he is intending to expand this collection even further.
