Korba: Upset with incessant crop-raiding, the Dharmjaigarh forest division has brought trained Kumki tuskers to control the wild elephant 'Ganesh'.
The tuskers named as 'Duryodhan' and 'Teerathram' are specially trained to control wild elephants, who go out of control.
With the help of these elephants, the forest department is expected to tie a radio ID collar to Ganesh.
A few days back, the radio ID collar which was attached with Ganesh was founded broken in the jungle.
This collar ID gives updates about the movement of wild tusker to the forest department.
With the help of this collar ID, the forest department informs and alerts people residing in the area about the presence of the elephant.
Last year the forest officials with the help of Karnataka forest department managed to attach the collar to Ganesh.
The elephant 'Ganesh' has killed 18 people in the last 2-3 years.
The Raipur jungle safari expert Rakesh Verma would be leading the team from Kumudra.
Elephant Teerathram has helped earlier also to tranquillize Ganesh.
In a telephonic conversation, the team leader Rakesh Verma said: "The mission to attach a collar ID on Ganesh’s throat began on Tuesday itself and during the last two-three days the arrangement of logistical support, that would be required was being completed."
