Dantewada IED blast: Four suspects held, sent to judicial custody

A police team was conducting raids for the past several days in Aranpur and its adjoining areas in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district. On Friday, the police achieved success. Four people were arrested by the police.

Dantewada: With the arrest of four persons on Friday, the police were claiming a breakthrough in the Dantewada IED blast which took place on April 26. A vehicle in the convoy was blown off due to the IED explosion leading to the death of 10 District Reserve Force (DRG) jawans and a civilian driver.

Aftermath the Maoist attack, a police team was conducting raids for the past several days in Aranpur and its adjoining areas in the state. On Friday, the police achieved success. Four people were arrested by the police. Confirming their arrests, police said all four appeared to be suspects. Further probe into the incident has been going on. The arrested suspects underwent a medical examination. They were produced before the court. The court sent them on judicial remand.

Dantewada SP Siddharth Tiwari said, "The four suspects were taken into custody from Aranpur and its adjoining areas. All four suspects were taken into custody based on a tip-off provided by a police informer. Preliminary investigation hinted that arrested persons had links with the CPI (Maoists), a proscribed outfit. Things will be clear after further probe into the matter."

The rebels had triggered an improvised explosive device (IED) blast on April 26 in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district. Ten District Reserve Force jawans and a civilian driver had been killed. The Maoist attack had occurred between the Aranpur and Sameli camps of the security forces. The police were conducting raids in the Naxal-affected Aranpur and its nearby areas in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, to arrest the four suspects. Among the four arrested, one is a minor boy.
