Chhattisgarh govt issues guidelines for Vijayadashami and Ravana combustion

Vijayadashami marks the triumph of Goddess Durga over the buffalo Demon Mahishasura. Vijayadashami is also known as Dussehra or Dasara and is celebrated as the victory of Lord Rama over Demon Ravana. Keeping eyes on it Chhattisgarh government has issued a guideline regarding Durga Mata idol immersion and Vijayadashami due to Corona Pandemic.

Raipur: Vijayadashami is one of the most significant Hindu festivals that marks the end of the nine-day long Navratri celebrations.

This year, the festival of Mahanavami and Vijayadashami will be celebrated on the same day.

Keeping eyes on it Chhattisgarh government has issued a guideline regarding Durga Mata idol immersion and Vijayadashami due to Corona Pandemic.

Chhattisgarh government has issued guidelines regarding the upcoming Navratri and Dussehra festivals in the wake of the spread of CoVID infection.

Besides, authorities in tribal Bastar division have appealed to the devotees not to be physically present during the various rituals of the famous Bastar Dussehra.

In Chhattisgarh, the number of corona infected patients has reached almost one lakh fifty thousand.

Meanwhile, the state government has issued guidelines regarding the Navratri festival, stating that no devotees will enter the pandal of Durga idols without a face mask.

  • The organizing committees will have to make arrangements for sanitizer, hand wash and thermal screening in the pandals.
  • The idol of Maa Durga should not be more than six feet.
  • During the Dussehra festival, the organizers will be allowed for the Ravana combustion program after they furnish an affidavit to follow the relevant guidelines.
  • No more than fifty persons will be able to participate in the program and the height of the effigies of Ravana shall not exceed ten feet.

Bastar Dussehra of Chhattisgarh is also very famous. It is said to be the longest festival in the world lasting seventy-five days.

The Bastar district administration has assured that all the rituals and traditions of Bastar Dussehra will be organised this year as in previous years.

But, in view of the corona infection, the administration has appealed to the devotees not to be physically involved in these rituals.

For the convenience of devotees, all the programs of Bastar Dussehra will be broadcast live through social media platforms like YouTube and Facebook.
