Dhamtari: Two people died of suspected asphyxiation in Dhamtari district in Chhattisgarh on Thursday while trying to protect the brick kiln from rain.
On being informed, the Arjuni station police reached the spot.
"Brick kiln operator Dilip Chakradhari and labourer Raghunath Goud were trying to cover the raw bricks with a tarpaulin during heavy rain. They covered themselves with tarpaulin to avoid getting wet. Later, they died due to suffocation. The exact cause of deaths will be ascertained only after the post-mortem," said Umendra Tondon, Station Incharge, Arjuni.
Rain-related deaths were reported earlier also. A worker had died after a water tank collapsed in Raipur. In another incident in Bhatgaon, three workers had died when the upper part of a water tank collapsed on them.
