New Delhi: The Janata Dal (United) has unanimously appointed Munger MP Rajiv Ranjan Singh aka Lalan Singh as their new national president. The newly-appointed national president urges all the party leaders and workers to work in unison to make JD(U) a strong political force in the state.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Singh said, "All the decisions taken in the party for its welfare will be consensus-driven. I'll try to unite all the leaders and workers without ignoring none. I intend to strengthen JDU in Bihar as well as in other states."
"I'll also try to live up to the expectations of all the leaders and workers of the party including Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. I also wish to bring back all the veteran leaders, who are not active now and also members who left the party besides connecting with youngsters in the party," he added.

On being asked about the preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in the five states, Singh said that his party will contest the upcoming assembly elections in all five states. He also evinced interest to form an alliance with NDA in the upcoming elections.
Earlier, on Saturday, Singh has been appointed as the national president at the emergency national executive meeting in New Delhi. Union Minister RCP Singh had resigned from the post citing the 'one post, one man' dictum of the party. Lalan Singh has always been a close aide of Nitish Kumar. Apart from being close to CM, Lalan also got the top post for perfectly executing several plans of Nitish. Be it splitting the LJP or Congress in Bihar, Lalan has played a pivotal role.
