Welcome to the most peaceful village in Bihar

It is often believed that Bihar reports the highest number of criminal cases. But Katorva village in Bihar’s Bettiah district has been an exception.

It’s not that there have been no disputes at this village, home to around 1500 people from various social strata. Instead, the people of the village sit down and sort out the dispute. The rare initiative has resulted in no cases registered against any villagers with the local police stations or in the courts.

Villagers said the initiative has not only prevented them from making rounds of the police stations and the courts but also helped them save their hard-earned money.

When the team of ETV Bharat informed DGP Gupteshwar Pandey about the village, he went to the village to meet the people there. He was amazed to see the people there were also following the social distancing norms amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The DGP said that at a time when there are violence and crime everywhere, this village is setting an example of brotherhood for the whole country.

He appreciated the initiative of the villagers and asked the other villages to learn from them.
