New Delhi: Bihar's political equation may take a new twist as Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) chief Upendra Kushwaha is expected to join hands with Janata Dal (United) soon.
According to reports, Kushwaha met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar soon after the declaration of the state assembly election results, it is sparking rumours about his's move.
Given his background, if he merges with the JD (U) or joins the NDA, he could be the most preferred choice to head the education ministry, reports said.
Till the recent assembly elections, Kushwaha, who has frequently changed his allies, was at loggerheads with Nitish but recently he was seen supporting Nitish strongly.
And now, it seems that the RLSP chief too has no choice left but to join his mentor Kumar. Soon Kushwaha, who nourishes chief ministerial ambitions, turned a rebel and formed his own party-- the RLSP, performed very poor in recent elections.
Despite the poor electoral performance, Kushwaha can add to the political heft of Kumar and the JD(U)-RLSP can become an important social group in Bihar.
In 2014, it became part of the NDA and Kushwaha became a minister in the NDA government. But the return of JD(U) into the NDA fold in 2017 changed the equation and Kushwaha became part of the Mahagathbandhan.
Meanwhile, observers say Kushwaha would do better if he merges his party with the JD (U) and this Luv-Kush Jodi (Nitish-Kushwaha) can become a potent power for JD(U) in Bihar.
