Araria (Bihar): Three minor girls drowned in a canal in Bihar's Araria on Saturday evening.
The deceased were identified as Sabrin Ansari (17)- daughter of Kurban Ansari, Afsari Alam (17)- daughter of Alam, Pinki (10)- daughter of Rafik. All were residents of Rajokhar Ward number-5, Nahar Tola under RS police station.
According to relatives of the deceased, four girls had gone out to collect grass fodder for cattle. While returning home, one of the girls, Pinki lost her balance and fell into the ditch. Another girl Sabrin tried to pull her out but lost her balance and fell into the water. Subsequently, Afsari who offered her hand to her friends also lost her balance and fell into the canal.
The fourth girl who was with them shouted for help but to no avail. The girl rushed home to narrate the tragic incident to the family members and neighbours, the villagers rushed to the canal and recovered their bodies.
The family members of the deceased refused to hand over the bodies to police for post-mortem examination.
Police inspected the spot and a detailed investigation is on.
