Patna: Famous as ‘Chhote Sarkar’ in Bihar, Anant Singh is again in the poll fray from Mokama Assembly seat ahead of Bihar polls. This time he is a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate. He is in the fray to ensure that the lantern, the poll symbol of RJD, outsmarts others in the battle of ballots.
As the RJD candidate, Anant Singh has filed his nomination paper from Mokama Assembly seat. In his election affidavit, he has mentioned details about criminal cases against him and the wealth he owns.
According to these details, Anant Singh had properties worth over Rs 28 crore in 2015 and now he is the owner of properties to the tune of Rs 68.55 crore. This means that his wealth has increased by 2.5 times in the past five years.

So far as cash is concerned, Anant Singh had only Rs 40,800 in 2015, while his wife Neelam Devi had Rs 3,91,440 crore. He has Rs 22 lakh 13 thousand and 488 as cash in 2020, while his wife has only Rs 11,83,414 in cash. However, there is no mention of the source of income in the affidavit.
If we talk about cars and other vehicles, Singh has been seen using high-end vehicles like Range Rover. Not a big surprise when the people see him using ‘Tanga’ as well. In the affidavit, however, Singh has admitted to having only one Scorpio car, which is worth Rs 6 lakh. Singh is also fond of keeping animals. He has elephants, horses, cows and buffaloes worth about Rs 2 lakh.
There is also an increase in the number of criminal cases against Singh. As per the details in the election affidavit, there were more than 25 criminal cases against him when he filed the nomination paper for the 2015 Assembly elections. In 2020, as he has mentioned in the affidavit, there are 38 cases against him.
It is worth noting that in 2019, an AK-47 rifle and bombs were recovered from his house following which he surrendered before a court in Delhi. From jail, he came to the Sub-Divisional headquarters Barh to file his nomination paper.
In terms of properties, Singh’s wife Neelam Devi is richer than him. In the year 2019-2020, he had filed the Income Tax Return (ITR) of Rs 8,86,143. The ITR filed by his wife Neelam Devi was of Rs 1 crore 20 lakh 30 thousand and 261.
