New Delhi: Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) on Tuesday demanded special economic package of rupees 1.50 lakh crore for Bihar from the centre, saying the state needs the funds to deal with the coronavirus and the economic crisis.

RLSP general secretary Madhav Anand told ETV Bharat here that he being an economist is of the view that Bihar needs funds immediately to deal with the extra ordinary situation, which has emerged due to coronavirus and weak economy of the state.

"Bihar is a state with limited resources. It needs help from the centre to deal with the situation," he said, adding that generation of employment opportunities for people, particularly migrant labourers, is also a major challenge for it.

A large number of migrant workers, who had gone to other states in search of work, are returning and they are to be looked after, he said.

"It would not be possible without centre's help," Anand said.

He hoped that with all political parties of the state supporting the demand, the state would get the required funds from the Union government.
