Pashupati Paras wrests LJP helm from Chirag, claims 'original' tag for party

Pashupati Paras has claimed that his faction is the real LJP as 95 per cent of the party members is with him and he has been elected as the leader of the parliamentary party according to the constitution of the LJP.

New Delhi: Lok Janshakti Party's (LJP) newly elected National President Pashupati Paras on Friday said that the faction under his leadership is the real LJP as he has been elected as the leader of the parliamentary party according to the constitution of the LJP. After taking charge of LJP's National President on Thursday, Paras also submitted the documents to the Returning Officer of the Election Commission.

He said that Chirag Paswan should avoid 'talking nonsense' as 95 per cent of the party members including MPs, national office bearers and national executive are with him and they will work together to expand and strengthen the LJP. "We will also bring back all those who left the party due to wrong decisions of Chirag Paswan. The entire LJP family will stay united," he added.

In an exclusive interaction with ETV Bharat, Paras said that he does not know if he will get a ministerial post at the Centre or not as all the decisions related to the cabinet are confidential which are taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a major setback to the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), five out of its six Lok Sabha MPs turned rebels as they want Chirag Paswan to be ousted as the leader of the Parliamentary Party in the Lower House. Except for Chirag himself, all the other five MPs wished to be led by Hajipur MP Pashupati Paras. These MPs include Prince Raj, Chandan Singh, Veena Devi and Mehboob Ali Kaiser.

On the other hand, Chirag Paswan and his faction have claimed that they are the real LJP. He said that nine people have jointly made Paras the chief of LJP and he has already kicked them out of the party. He stated that his uncle Paras has been made the leader of the parliamentary party going against LJP's constitution which is completely wrong.

Both the parties have claimed their leadership on LJP before the Election Commission.
