Kaimur (Bihar): The New Primary Government School in Karnpura village of Bihar's Kaimur district is waiting for new admissions for the past three years. Even from the last two years, the mid-day-meal facility has also been dropped in this school, facing lack of enrollment.
The school currently has only 10 students who are studying in the fourth and fifth standards.
School principal Arvind Manjhi informed that despite many efforts, no student has taken admission in the past three years. From first to the third standard all classes remain empty in the entire session.
Giving reason behind the absence of students, Manjhi stated that villagers prefer to send their kids to a private school which is located nearby.
Besides headmaster Manjhi, the school has one more teacher and only three to four students come to school regularly.
According to the students, the quality of education is fine at the school and both the teachers help them with subjects.
District Education Officer Suryanarayana revealed that a government school runs on the strength of at least 40 students. Taking a serious note of the issue, he said that the matter will be investigated and actions will be taken accordingly for the betterment of the students and the school.
