Patna: A joint meeting of the NDA legislature party will be held in Patna on Sunday where Nitish Kumar will be sworn in as the Bihar CM again.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will likely attend the meeting to formally elect Kumar as the new CM of Bihar. Apart from Singh, the key NDA meeting will also be attended by former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and senior BJP leader Bhupendra Yadav.
Despite the BJP emerging as the largest party in the ruling alliance with 74 seats, 31 more than the JD(U), the top leadership of the saffron party, including PM Narendra Modi, has emphatically endorsed Kumar as the next CM.
Nitish, who handed over his resignation as the CM of the present government to governor Phagu Chauhan on Friday with the state cabinet’s resolution to dissolve the 16th legislative assembly as its term expires on November 29, is likely to take oath as the state CM for the 7th time either on November 16 or 17. The date and venue are yet to be officially announced.
Meanwhile, Bihar BJP state headquarters in charge Suresh Rungata said," The Legislature party meeting is going to be held at the state office on Sunday. All the MLAs of the state have been invited to the meeting."
"Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and senior BJP leader Bhupendra Yadav will attend the meeting. The leader of the legislative party will also to be elected," he said.
