Chapra (Bihar): As many as eight people were killed in separate incidents of the lightning strike in Bihar on Tuesday. Chapra was the worst-hit with four casualties while two died in Nawada and two in Badh.
The first incident took place in Mahmada village of Garkha block in Chapra district. The deceased were identified as Kameshwar Rai, 53, his wife Saroj Devi Thakur Rai, and 8-year-old son Ravi alias Sonu of Lal Bihari died. All of them are said to be members of the same family.
The second incident took place in Ramgarhwa near Avatar Nagar police station area. An elderly farmer, Ramayan Saha, who went out for plantation died due to the lightning. After the incident, the local police arrived and sent all the dead bodies to Chapra Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
Saran District Magistrate Subrata Kumar Sen expressed grief over this incident. He announced ex-gratia to all the injured and the dead. Apart from this, compensation of Rs. 4 lakh is also being given to the deceased by the district administration.
The DM said that lightning incidents have increased in the state. He asked people to download Indra Bridge app to be aware. Through this app, people will be alerted and can go to safe places on time.
