Patna: Key BJP ally Janata Dal (United) on Sunday opposed the controversial anti-conversion law, "Love Jihad". JD(U) is a key ally of BJP-led National Democratic Alliance in Bihar.

During a presser here, JD(U) spokesperson KC Tyagi expressed his dissatisfaction over the controversial anti-conversion law and said this is not a good sign for the society.

"Dr Lohia had said that all relations between men and women are legitimate if there is no promise and rape. As the slanderous atmosphere is being created about Love Jihad, the Janata Dal does not consider it as good," he said.

"Efforts are being made to create an atmosphere of hatred in every corner in the country regarding love jihad. Two adults are free to choose a partner on their own mindsets. By creating such laws, dividing the society, oppressing some people, are undemocratic and we will never follow it," Tyagi said.

"We also express anguish over six JDU MLAs from Arunanchal Pradesh joining Bharatiya Janata Party. This is not a good sign for alliance politics," Tyagi said.

"Nitish Kumar Ji decided to relinquish the post of party president and proposed the name of RCP Singh for the same, following which RCP Singh has been elected as new party chief for next three years," said Tyagi.
