New Delhi: Janata Dal-United leader KC Tyagi on Wednesday lauded Supreme Court's verdict of handing over the investigation into actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Speaking to ETV Bharat here, Tyagi said, "Supreme Court verdict makes it clear that probe by Bihar Police and FIR registered in Patna were correct. Not just Sushant Singh Rajput's family or people of Bihar, the entire country is concerned over the matter. With the CBI probe, people can trust there'll be justice."

He said that the team probing the death case in Mumbai did not get the cooperation of the local police, but added that political comments on the matter are not right.

"It was the duty of Bihar Police to probe after the complaint, but they didn't get the operation in Mumbai. Behaviour meted out to our IPS officer is known to all. With the Supreme Court verdict, it's clear what happened wasn't right. Any political comment in this situation isn't right," added Tyagi.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the Rajput's death, who was found dead at his apartment in Mumbai's Bandra on June 14.

The order came on actor Rhea Chakraborty's plea seeking to transfer the case filed against her in connection with the actor's death from Bihar's Patna to Mumbai.

The late actor's family has alleged that Chakraborty had abetted the alleged suicide of the actor and registered a case against her in Patna. The case was later transferred to the CBI.
