Patna: A teacher is known for his/her hard work who brightens the students' future, and here comes a story of a teacher whose future seems to be destroyed amid the COVID crisis and is now selling pakoras and jalebis in his home state Bihar.

Abdul Qadir, who was a contract teacher at a primary school under South Delhi Municipal Corporation is the sole breadwinner for his family and isn't left with other option as his contract hasn't been renewed.

Abdul, who has an 80% locomotor disability, says he is unable to take up any job. Hence, he has started selling pakoras and jalebis to support his family.

Abdul further said: "I received unemployment as a reward after serving in school honestly."

He said that he has not received a salary since the lockdown started in March. Also, his contract has been terminated. He told that he has pleaded with MCD commissioner to LG to extend the contract but he was not heard anywhere.

In such a situation, when the family's situation started deteriorating, he was forced to return to his village Bihar.

"I used to earn a monthly salary of Rs 40,000 and support my two kids and wife. I cannot survive in Delhi with no earnings. At least here I have some family support to lean on”, says Abdul.

Abdul appealed to the South Delhi Municipal Corporation to take cognizance of his situation and extend his contract so that he could maintain his family's honour and can live their lives happily.
