Patna (Bihar): The nationwide tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases neared 5,200 on Wednesday amid hectic discussions for a possible extension of the 21-day lockdown beyond April 14 as several states announced plans to ramp up their testing infrastructure and put in place strong 'cluster containment' plans in areas identified as hotspots of the outbreak.
Running on the same track, Bihar has also crossed its mark of 34 positive cases of novel coronavirus and claimed the life of a 25-years-old man having a history of travelling Gulf country.
While talking to ETV Bharat, RJD leader Manoj Jha asked the Biharis to remain at home in order to break the chain of the deadly pandemic.
"The whole world has been battling with the novel coronavirus. As there are no specific medications available in the market, we have to pledge not to roam outside our house so that the chain of the pandemic can be stopped", added Jha.
The leader also requested all the citizens to stand firmly with the poor as they are the most affected community in the world.
The number of cases of the novel coronavirus across the globe crossed the 1.3 million mark as the global death toll topped 70,000. India entered the third week of its 21-day lockdown, the total number of confirmed cases of novel coronavirus surged to 5,194 and the death toll touched 165 on Wednesday.
