Jamui: Two cattle lifters were brutally thrashed to death by villagers in Jamui district of Bihar, police said on Tuesday.
According to police, the incident took place in Tolona village under Simultala police station limits late on Monday night while they were tried to escape after stealing an ox belonging to Vijay Ram.
Locals caught hold of the thieves and thrashed them brutally with lathis, leaving them dead on the spot.
On being informed, police reached the spot and sent the bodies to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
Police said the deceased have been identified as Lal Mohan Paswan and Nagau Paswan, both residents of Mansidih village in Chandramandih police station limits.
A case has been registered and further investigation into the matter is underway.
