Tripura: Suspecting cattle theft, mob lynches three youths to death

Three youths suspected to be cattle thieves were allegedly lynched to death by a frenzied mob under Khowai district of Tripura on Sunday. According to sources, repeated incidents of cattle theft reported in the area have enraged the locals.

Khowai (Tripura): Three youths suspected to be cattle lifters were allegedly lynched to death by a frenzied mob in Khowai district of Tripura on Sunday. The incident took place at North Maharanipur ADC village under Kalyanpur sub-division. The deceased, identified as Jahed Hossain (28), Billal Miah (30) and Saiful Islam (18), were all from Sonamura sub-division under Sepahijala district.

According to sources, repeated incidents of cattle theft were reported in the area, enraging locals. On Sunday, the locals spotted three unidentified youth roaming suspiciously in the area. The irate mob allegedly launched a grisly attack on the youths. Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and took the injured youths to GBP Hospital. However, they could not be saved.
