Assam CM involved in cattle smuggling, coal syndicate, says Bhupesh Baghel

Chattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel accused Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal of involvement in cattle smuggling and illegal coal syndicate. Gaupujan and conservation of cows put forth by the BJP is a cover-up to carry out illegal cattle smuggling, said Baghel.

Guwahati: In a scathing attack against Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Chattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel accused Sonowal of cattle smuggling and illegal coal syndicate. Baghel said that people of Assam would give a befitting reply to the ruling BJP led dispensation in the forthcoming polls. Baghel made the statement during a press conference in Guwahati on Wednesday.

He further added that BJP's development promises would not have any impact on Assam. Illegal cattle smuggling and coal syndicate would not lead to the betterment of people's lives.

Pointing out statistics, Baghel said that beef supply to Bangladesh has increased by 211 per cent from 2016 to 2018. Gaupujan and conservation of cows put forth by the BJP is a cover-up to carry out illegal cattle smuggling, he added. Baghel also challenged Sonowal to announce details on the number of cattle recovered by the law enforcing agencies and its shelter.

He also said that illegal coal syndicate has been ongoing in Assam at the behest of the ruling government and that at least 500 trucks transit illegal coal every day from Assam.

He said that there are 29 lakh unemployed youth in Assam now. Although the BJP had promised employment to 23 lakh youth, nothing was done, he said.
