Guwahati: Seven students from Guwahati University were prevented from entering the famous Hampi monuments on the basis of their appearance in Karnataka.
The incident took place on Monday, when the students from the geology department were on an educational tour to the monuments which is located in northern part of Karnataka.
According to reports, some security guards questioned the nationality of the students. They even asked them: "Where is Assam?"
After showing Aadhar cards and other identity proofs, the students were allowed to enter the place.
Hampi monuments are famous tourist attraction in northern Karnataka. Located in Hampi, the monuments also rank among the World Heritage Sites by the UNESCO.
