Guwahati: Moved by ETV Bharat's heartrending story of ailing actor Nipon Goswami, Assam Chief Minister Sarbanada Sonowal has announced a financial help of Rs. 50,000 from Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the treatment of Assamese actor, who has been ill since past few weeks.
His family members revealed that Goswami recently underwent brain surgery and his health condition was highlighted by ETV Bharat.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sonowal also prayed for Goswami's speedy recovery.
Born in Tezpur, the 71-year-old actor stepped into the industry as a child artist by playing a role in the 1957 Assamese film ‘Pioli Phukan’ which was directed by Phani Sarma.
Goswami is an Assamese film actor and theatre artist. He has been actively involved in mobile theatres and has given amazing performances in Abaahan, Kohinoor, Hengul, and Shakuntala. He has also appeared in a few TV serials including 'Writu Aahe Writu Jaai.' Sangram was his first Assamese film in the year 1968.
Goswami had also acted in several Assamese films including Shiraj, Deutar Biya, Priya O Priya, Kokadeutar Ghar Jowai, Aparupa, Sandhyaraag, Bohagor Duporiya, Ghar Khankar and many others.
