60 yrs after separation, this Bangladeshi finds roots in Assam

Social media reunites separated family from Bangladesha and India closer. Bangladesh's Mamtaz Akhtar, an IT officer finally finds her extended family in Assam's Nagaon district.

Nagaon: Eid celebrations brought the joy of togetherness to a family who were separated in 1960 and finally reunited this year through social media in Assam's Nagaon district.

The family was separated after they sold their property in Assam's Kampur Takoubari and moved to Bangladesh's Sunamganj.

Mamtaz Akhtar, who worked in Sunamganj Chambers of Commerce as an IT Officer, visited India in search of her long lost grandfather of whom she had been sharing posts on social media for a very long time.

"I was writing about my family and sharing posts for a very long time but there were no responses. Finally, I found a person who responded to my posts and helped me reunite with my family in Assam," Akhtar said.

A local photographer, Mohammad Shabir Khan helped the woman to reunite with her family in Assam.

She spoke about her father and her extended family who lived in Assam and how she discovered about them only after growing up.

She also said that she was overwhelmed with the fact that she was finally able to see the place-where her elders were born and brought up.

The Holy Eid turns into a Magic for both the Family, As Bangladesh based Mamtaz Akhtar found her GrandFather house in Assam's Nagaon District. The Family got separated in 1960 While A family from Assam's Kampur Takoubari Sold their Property and moved to Bangladesh's Sunamganj. 



After Long time back, the Lady Mamtaz Akhtar, who currently worked in Sunamganj Chambers of Commerce as an Information-Technology Officer, Cames to Assam on 12th August. She Upload a Post regarding her Family on Facebook where she describe about her family. Mohmmad Shabir Khan A photographer from Assam's Nagaon District recognize her post and than The Family got reunited.
