Assam: Govt offices resume work with 33 percent staff

Employees in government offices of Assam have resumed their duties on Tuesday. The divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, Sub-divisional officers ensured the attendance of maximum 33 per cent of Grade-ll, lll & IV employees for the smooth functioning of the offices.

Guwahati: After a long gap, 33 percent employees of the Assam government resumed their duties in different districts of the state including at the Assam Secretariat at Dispur in Guwahati on Tuesday.

The employees of different department of the Assam government establishments were taken to their respective offices on bus provided by the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC), officials said adding that only 33 percent of the employees were allowed to resume work.

The employees who were brought to their respective offices were made to sanitize their hands before entering their offices. The employees were also asked to maintain social distance norms while working in the offices.

The government has also made the wearing of the face mask mandatory among the employees who had resumed the services from Tuesday.

In Jorhat and Sivsagar also, government offices recorded 33 percent attendance on Tuesday.

Almost all the important government establishments like the Deputy Collector's offices, treasury offices etc. have been resumed with only 33 percent employees.

In Sivasagar town, the deputy commissioner have also issued instruction to open three boom stalls and some hardware stalls.

All the government employees have been desisted from using their own private car. Instructions have also been issued that movement of private vehicles will be allowed only on essential purposes.

The decision to partially resume the work has been taken after COVID-19 situation slightly improved in the state.

As per reports, 34 patients were tested as COVID-19 positive in Assam out of which one died and five were released after testing negative.
