Assam: Ex-cadre of ULFA wins Best Innovator Award

Durlav Gogoi, who is an ex-cadre of United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent (ULFA), has won the Best Innovator Award from President Ram Nath Kovind. He won the award for helping the tea-cultivators of his state by building machines that prepare quality tea.

Assam: Once a fierce cadre of ULFA, a separatist group of Assam, a man named Durlav Gogoi has won the Best Innovator Award from the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) - India. The award was presented to him by President of India Ram Nath Kovind.

Gogoi hails from Tingkhong situated in the Tinsukia district of Assam. He borrowed a loan of Rs 1 lakh in 2011 for turning his ideas into a reality.

Durlav Gogoi got the Best Innovator Award for building special machines for tea-cultivators.

Gogoi began his journey with a single welding machine, and now has a factory set up for helping the tea cultivators in the state.

He later developed a machine that now helps tea cultivators prepare quality green tea, black tea and orthodox tea. The machine he built, is not only sold in India but also to countries abroad.

In a series of innovations, he has also developed machines that can help people in making rice flour and turmeric powder.

Gogoi is also providing employment to 25 youths of his village. For his efforts in helping the people of his state, he received the award from the President.

He first started with a welding machine and now has a factory which produces machines for small tea growers. He with his own innovative techniques has developed a machine which helps small tea growers to prepare quality green tea, black tea and orthodox tea. His machines are sold not only in India but also abroad. He not only makes machines fro tea growers but have other machines in store which can help to make rice flour and turmeric powder. Along with these he is also providing employment to 25 other youths of his village. 

He recieved the award from the President of India Ram Nath Kovind for his innovation.
