Assam bandh against UTC today

A bandh has been called by several organisations after the central government gets ready to sign another Accord with all the factions of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) in New Delhi.

Guwahati: Several organisations are protesting against the Central government move to grant Union Territorial Council (UTC) status to the Bodoland Territorial council on Monday.

A bandh has been called by the groups which is hitting the normal life in Udalguri, Chirang and Baksa districts.

The protestors burnt effigies of Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

They burnt tyres on the road for blocking national highways.

The call for the bandh comes at a time when the Centre gets ready to sign another Accord with all the factions of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) in New Delhi.
