YSRCP's priority is to obtain special status for AP: Sanjeev Kumar

YSR Congress Party leader Sanjeev Kumar, who had arrived in Delhi to take oath as a newly elected MP from Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh, emphasized on the party's determination to get Special Category Status for the state and ensuring fair implementation of the AP reorganisation Act, 2014.

New Delhi: YSR Congress Party leader Sanjeev Kumar on Monday reiterated the party's stand on obtaining Special Category Status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Kumar said, "our primary target is to ensure that we obtain SCS for the state (Andhra Pradesh)."

"We will fight till the last hour of our tenure to fulfil the promises made by us as was indicated by our party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, " said Kumar.

Kumar who has been elected as a Member of Parliament from the Kurnool Lok Sabha seat of Andhra Pradesh in the recently concluded general election had arrived in New Delhi to take oath along with other MP's on the first day of the 17th Lok Sabha.

In continuity with their poll promise of fairly implementing the Reorganisation Act, Kumar elaborated, "we (YSRCP) are determined to get a fair deal out of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 for the state, and we will take up the issue at the highest level if necessary."

After the two Telugu-speaking states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were bifurcated in 2014, a total of 241 government corporations, companies and institutes were to be divided between them. Most of these organizations, listed under schedule 9 (89) and schedule 10 (142) of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, are located in Hyderabad or have their headquarters there.

Andhra Pradesh has been insisting on the division of schedule 9 bodies (with regard to assets and employees) on the basis of a population ratio of 58:42 (AP: Telangana), as prescribed by the AP Reorganisation Act, while the Telangana government has maintained that the employees be divided based on where they belong (nativity). The process of resolving this is still on.

New Delhi: YSR congress Party seem to be very determined for getting special status to Andhra Pradesh. On the first day of the session of 17th Lok Sabha, Members of Parliament are trying hard for the same demand.

ETV Bharat spoke to member of Parliament and leader of YSR congress Party Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, where he said their main target will be getting special status for Andhra Pradesh.

"Though the arithmetic is not favourable to us, we will be fighting till the last hour of our tenure as indicated by our party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy" said Kumar.

"we will definitely take this to the peak level and try to achieve whatever is suggested in the reorganisation act. We hope to take all the all the facilities given in the act to our state." added the MP.
