Amaravati: Nine students from various districts in Andhra Pradesh have died by suicide after failing their Intermediate exams. Two others who attempted suicide are currently receiving treatment in hospitals. The deceased students were from Chittoor, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Anantapur, and NTR.
On Thursday, Anusha, a 17-year-old student from Etavakili in Punganur Mandal of Chittoor district, jumped into a pond and died by suicide. She had recently visited her grandmother's village in Karnataka and was informed by her mother on Wednesday that she had failed a subject. Anusha assured her mother that she would pay the exam fees and clear the paper in the next attempt. However, she died by suicide the following day.
Babu, a 17-year-old from Baireddypalle in Chittoor district, also died by suicide after drinking insecticide on Wednesday night. He had failed the Inter MPC second-year mathematics paper.
Karubotu Tulsi Kiran, a 17-year-old first-year Inter student from Anakapalli, committed suicide on Thursday after receiving poor marks in the exam. He was the youngest son of Karubothu Rama Rao and Appalaramana.
Balaka Tarun, a 17-year-old from Dandugopalapuram village in Santabommali mandal of Srikakulam district, was killed after being hit by a train in Tekkali on Thursday. He had failed the Inter exam and was upset about it.
Atmakuru Akhilashree, a 16-year-old from Visakhapatnam, died by suicide on Thursday after failing to qualify the Inter exam. Her mother is a wage laborer who had worked hard to educate her daughter. When the body was being taken to the crematorium, the police intercepted and shifted it to the hospital for post-mortem.
Bonela Jagadish, an 18-year-old from Srinivasanagar in Palnati Colony in Visakha, died by suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his room on Thursday morning. He had failed in the second-year Inter exam.

Mahesh, a 17-year-old from Hanakanahal village in Kanekallu mandal of Anantapur district, committed suicide after his parents questioned him as to why he did not appear in the first-year Inter exam. He was frustrated and upset with himself.
Sheikh John Saida, a 16-year-old first-year Inter student from Nandigama in the NTR district, committed suicide after securing one mark in Mathematics, six in Physics, and seven in Chemistry. John's parents accused the college authorities of improper evaluation of their son's examination papers and held them responsible for his death. Ramana Raghava, a student from Chillakallu in the same district, died by suicide after failing a subject in senior Inter.
Two other students from Vizianagaram district attempted suicide and were admitted to hospitals. One student from a village in Garividi mandal of Vizianagaram district drank insecticide after failing in three subjects in Inter first and second years and is currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital. The other inter-first-year student from a village in Rajam Mandal of the same district was admitted to Rajam Social Hospital on Thursday after drinking ant-killer chemical after failing to qualify for the exams.
