Nuzvid: A father in Andhra Pradesh's Krishna district allegedly tried to sell one of his twin daughters for an amount of Rs 1 lakh on Thursday.
According to reports, Rajesh, a native of Kothur Thanda village in Nuzvid district, decided to sell one of the twin daughters citing his inability to afford their upbringing. However, the family members objected to his decision.
Rajitha, wife of Rajesh gave birth to the infants in a private hospital a week ago.
On receiving the information, the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) along with the Women Development and Child Welfare (WD&CW) department took action to stop the trade.
The parents, along with the family will receive counselling by the ICPS personnel.
The Women and Child development officials will also inform them about illegal adoption and its consequences.
